Garageband On Ipad 3

Clearly the previous version of GarageBand was working just fine on the device and I would at least like to have that if at all possible. Is there any way I can still purchase it and install the previous version? Unfortunately the iPad 3 only goes up to iOS 9 or I would have installed iOS 10. Thank you all for your assistance! Oct 09, 2019  Open GarageBand on your iPhone or iPad and then follow these steps to share your song. 1) On the main GarageBand screen (Your Songs) tap and hold the song you want and select Share. 2) Choose Song. 3) Select the audio quality, adjust details if necessary, for artist, composer, and album, and optionally choose a cover image. Apple GarageBand 1.3 (for iPad) remains a stunner, with excellent sound quality, expressive string instruments, and just enough note editing to be truly useful for composing and recording music.

iPad 2, iOS 9.3.5, Garageband compatibility
Vemund, Oct 20, 2016 1:09PM

Maybe I should have asked Apple directly, but I was very interested in hearing what advice you might have. I'm a Norwegian music teacher just starting at a new school where they have been lucky to get hold of ten iPad 2's. I immediately thought to myself: YES, thinking of the possibilities one could use the iPads in the music subject, more precisely using Garageband. But that dream soon dwindled, as I found out the iOS updates for these iPads ended at 9.3.5, and when trying to download Garageband from App Store, it would not install unless iOS 10 was installed. This was such a letdown.
So I was wondering, is there any way, any way at all, where one could install an older version of Garageband on these iPads, without having bought any previous versions of GB?

That is a good question. As a matter of fact, there is a way to install an older version. It involves downloading GarageBand in iTunes on your computer first so it will be associated with your Apple ID account, and then going to the App Store on your iPad and downloading GarageBand should yield the option to download an older version. Full details on this procedure are available in our article here: App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps.
