What's happening my fellow Presonians,
It' has been quite sometime since I've needed to ask for help in the forums but hopefully I can get an answer that will help me in the long run so that I'm able to continue making some underground tracks for up and coming.
So I was attempting to add some adlibs to an audio track when I realized that my sound had a slight delay, which basically meant if I was trying to go along with the instrumental track I always sounded behind.
It's 2015, I'm trying to start the year off with some new tracks, artwork, designs, so I mos def have to keep the gears of creativity going.
If anyone can help me out with this situation I would greatly appreciate it, I have a girlfriend who definitely needs to hear some of the stuff I can dish out and I want to make sure my little studio is on point.
Thanks a bunch
From your friendly neighborhood MC

Ha ha, does your wife know?
Reduce the buffersize for the AB in the AB control panel. Its going to be a balancing act between a smaller buffer to make the delay go away, and what your computer can handle. If you start getting choppy/stuttering playback, you will have to increase the buffer a bit.

Funny guy huh?
I just figured out what you meant by 'AB Control Panel'
I'm sitting here like, 'Where's the AB Control Panel!?'
LOL, I'm gonna test it out right now.
Thank you

I can't access the AudioBox control panel from my software (Cubase 8.5) ... all the button there does is flash the Cubase transport window.
There should be an AudioBox application installed somewhere - this will directly open the PreSonus control panel and you can change the buffer sizes. Cubase recognized the changes without having to be restarted (thank goodness)
I haven't had time to play with it much after that to see how the smaller buffers are handled. Given my experiences with Windows 10 and device drivers so far - I'm not very optimistic.

In windows, you cannot access the control panel from within Studio One. You need to open up the AB driver application and change the buffer there.

What's an acceptable buffer size for a Core i5 with 8Gb Ram running Windows 10 64b? I don't want to reduce the buffer size more than necessary.

I can use my computer, similar specs, at 64 for tracking and not have to worry about it. Once I finish tracking and start mixing, I usually go with the largest buffer since latency is not a problem anymore.
Start with the smallest. You will see in the cpu meter in a song how well the computer can handle it.If the cpu is freaking out, then go up in size a notch at a time until it settles in.

Thanx everyone!
I am not using my audiobox very often, but it happens every now and then. I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and today when I was using my audiobox and studio1 I had big problems with the latency ( 60ms)!
Now I am happy again.

Can I listen to my sound (Playback) in a Studio One Session thru my Computer Speakers? I have an HDMI port that is routed to my Surround Sound Speakers and wondering if this will work instead of Studio Monitors or Headphones. Thanks in Advance.

Not at the same time. When you want to listen through pc speakers, you will have to select windows audio as the driver, not the abvsl.

Thanks. Reason I ask is because I don't have headphones or Monitor Speakers so I want to use the Premium Speakers I have my Computer hooked to for now until I decide on Headphones and then Budget for Monitor Speakers. I'm just getting started , my AudioBox should be here next week. Thanks again for your reply.

Actually the Surround Speakers have just bare wires as they plug in to my Surround Sound Amplifier. I have Audio and Video from my Computer routed to my Big Screen TV via my Computer Video Adapter and an HDMI Connection. I was just wondering if I could use this setup to play around with the AudioBox and Studio One till I acquire Headphones and Monitor Speakers. For now I am just trying to Learn how use the Software and begin Mixing Music. This part is New to me. I just started Guitar Lessons and wanting to Record my Guitar and also make me some Play Along Tracks to Practice my Guitar with so I am not trying to Create anything Special right now yet I would like to be able to Learn as I go if that makes any sense. Thanks again for the replies. I can see this is going to be a Great Place to interact with other people who have Mastered this area of Music.

Its not an ideal setup for true audio production, but there is no reason why you can't do it that way. You will not be able to use the AB and onboard audio at the same time however, so you really should pick up a cheap pair of phones (or even earbuds in a pinch) so you can here what you are playing while recording. Then when you want to listen on the AV system, you will need to switch the audio device the daw is using from the ab to windows audio.

I'll add on to what my good friend Matt says above.
It's true that you can only load one audio driver at a time but you can both use the Audiobox and the on board PC sound card at the same time by aggregating them with the ASIO4ALL driver. The potential downsides of using ASIO4ALL to do that is ...
1. Even though low latency performance may be better than using just the Windows audio driver, it will be worse than using the Audiobox driver... and...
2. You'll lose any proprietary control from the ASIO driver, like ASIO DM and other similar things which would only be possible by using the mfg's ASIO driver.
But by using ASIO4ALL you can aggregate whatever audio devices are attached to the system and use them all at once.

I should have my Presonus AudioBox 22VSL on Monday and will be Registering it and the Software. While I wait for it to arrive I am reading the information on the Forum and hopefully when my hardware arrives I won't have quite so many questions, although with my LUCK, something won't want to cooperate. Still I read on. Thanks again Gentlemen for your assistance.
